May 12th: 901 & 902 have both started the media unit by preparing themselves for viewing of "La grande seduction". Today students watched a brief clip and had to made predictions based on what they watched. 903 will be starting this unit next week.

April 19th: As a continuation with out culture and heritage theme, we have started looking at Acadian culture in our region.
March 29th: Welcome back after I hope an excellent long weekend. Today we finished a bilingual activity that we started before the long weekend - this was assigned for homework if not finished before the end of class! March 1st: Students are reminded to bring in a small item to class next Tuesday ( Thursday for 903) that represents a personal value or tradition. Also, students are reminded that they should have submitted their monster project last week!
February 18th: Students in 901 and 903 are reminded that their Monster projects are due tomorrow. 903 students have been given an extension due to missed time. Their new due date is Tuesday, February 23. Please see below for a copy of the handout outlining the necessary criteria.
February 5th : By the of the day all resolution presentation should have been presented. We are wrapping up with our resolution theme and continuing to develop our understanding of various adjectives and the future tense. This week students started working on creating a unique monster which will be brought to life using various adjectives. This activity will be due for 901 and 903 on Feb. 19th. 902 the due date is Feb. 24th. I have attached a copy of the activity below along with an example.

January 22nd: Students are reminded that due to various reasons presentations will start for all grade 9 students Thursday, January 28th. Have a great weekend!
January 20th: Over the past week we have been continuing to perfect our oral abilities in describing our new year resolutions as well as ways in which we can achieve them. Students have been working on a project called "C'est 2016" which includes three components: a rough copy, a final poster, as well as an oral presentation ( please see handout below). Presentations will get underway next Tuesday, January 26th. In addition, we took sometime this week to look at possessive adjectives ( see presentation for handouts).

January 11th: Happy New Year! Upon returning back to French class last week, students have been sharing their new year resolutions along with methods in which they can reach their goals. In addition, students have been practicing the tense 'Futur Proche'.
December 14th: Students in 901 and 902 should have their Calligramme poems ready to submit for Tuesday, December 15th - if not already done. See handout below! Students in 903 are reminded that their poems are due Thursday, December 17th.
December 10th: Students did an excellent job presenting their recipes! A special thank you to those parents who helped with sending special treats for the class to enjoy. Following the presentations, students have started working on a form of poetry called ' Calligrammes'. This incorporates poetry and images. See attachment below for instructions.

November 16th - 20th: This week students have been putting their newly learned skills to work by creating their own recipes! With a partner, students are developing a newly created or enhanced dish that will be presented to the class in the form of a cooking show. Students should be ready to present their recipes Thursday, December 3rd and Friday, December 4th.

November 4th: Today students were introduced to breakfast foods and following simple recipes. We watched a short film on making a chocolate cake and then reviewed the tense "Imperatif". October 27th, 29th & 30th: This week we finished our first theme, "les passe-temps" by submitting our first journal. We started 'la nourriture' by reading a simple text as well as explored a bit of poetry. Next week students will finish their identity poem as well as further explore our food theme. October 20th & 22nd: This week students set-up their journals and are expected to have the final copy of their first entry completed for Tuesday's class. Students are reminded that they must also submit their rough draft along with their final copy. We have finished our first unit "les passe temps" and are now looking at "La nourriture".
October 13th, 15th & 16th: This week students were introduced to various transitional words used in the French language. Students took their responses from last week's questions to formulate a rough copy of a well structured paragraph using transitional words. September 15th: All grade 9 students please have your final copy of "C'est Moi!" finished for Thursday's class. Presentations will take place Thursday and Friday of this week for 901 and 903. 902 will be presenting their work Thursday and next Tuesday. Please see the rubric above.
